Prof dr. L. Reijnders (1946) studied biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam and got his PhD in molecular biology from that university in 1973. After that he worked in teaching positions at the Agricultural University of Wageningen and the State University of Groningen. Since 1988 he is professor of environmental science at the University of Amsterdam, and since 1999 he holds the same chair at the Open University of the Netherlands.
