I vote for a $20+ per gallon. The tax raised can be spent on renewable technologies and subsidised public transport. It would discourage me from driving. but I don't drive much because of carbon footprint concerns.
YES, I really mean I'd vote for $20+ per gallon. In fact $50+ per gallon might do the trick.
Biofuels, at least the ones we have at the moment are not the answer, 23 gallons of biofuels consume enough grain to feed one person for one year. People starving so others can drive? Even ignoring deforestation concerns, biofuels are currently immoral!
