Virgin Airlines Flies Biofuel Plane
26 Feb, 2008 10:51 am
CNN's Rosemary Church speaks with Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines about the biofuel flight. The world's first biofuel-powered commercial aircraft touched down in Amsterdam on Sunday following a demonstration flight from London's Heathrow Airport hailed as a first step towards "cleaner" flying. The Virgin Atlantic Boeing 747 flight was part of a joint initiative with Boeing and engine manufacturer GE Aviation to develop a "sustainable aircraft fuel." No passengers were onboard. In light of recent disenchantment with biofuels, what does this flight indicate for technology and the environment?

Using first generation biofuels: impractical and does not transfer to real life situation. RB is not known for his humility.
