Speaker Pelosi on the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act

On June 7, the House of Representatives voted 247-176 to pass a bill (S 5) that would allow federal funding for research using stem cells derived from human embryos originally created for fertility treatments and willingly donated by patients. Yet this was a short-lived victory as President Bush on Wednesday vetoed the bill.
